The support of a friend has to be one of the most significant features in recovery. I cannot stress how important it is to have someone there and someone willing to listen. They don’t even have to respond, if I know they’re there, that’s such a positive feeling. For me, I couldn’t get through this without them.
Opening up to my close friends felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, and I realise now I can’t do this alone, and even though most didn’t have relatable experiences, they still tried to understand and be there for me.
For that, I can’t thank them enough.
One thing that has impacted me over the last few months is the amount of care shown. Whether that be through messages seeing how I am or trips out for distraction, I’ve realised how truly lucky I am. Finding friends who send messages like these…
